In 2014, the Club inducted the following players into the Hall of Fame:- Billy McKinlay, Willie Pettigrew, Graeme Payne, Lee Wilkie, Tommy Millar and Kevin Gallacher.

BILLY MCKINLAY

Billy was a schoolboy international who joined United on an ‘S’ form in March 1984 whilst he was with Hamilton Thistle. He went on to play for the national Under-16 squad, youth, Under-21s, Scotland ‘B’ and at full international level. A regular in the United first team by 1987-88, he went on to collect a runners-up medal in the Scottish Cup finals in 1988 and 1991. In September 1995, Billy signed for Blackburn Rovers for a fee reported at £1.75m.

WILLIE PETTIGREW

Willie was a Scotland international signed from Motherwell in 1979. He went on to form a productive scoring partnership with Paul Sturrock and collected winners’ medals in the League Cup in 1979 and 1980. He was also top scorer in his first season at Tannadice. In the Scottish Cup final of 1981, he picked up a runners-up medal. In September 1981 he left United to join Hearts, along with Derek Addison, in a joint deal said to be worth £180,000.

GRAEME PAYNE

Graeme was on an S form with United as early as May 1971. He was called up for the reserves from St Columba’s Boys Club in 1972-73 and within a short time he was established in the first team. In May 1974 he picked up a runners-up medal in United’s first Scottish Cup final. He was a regular in the line up for eight years and during that time, he collected winners’ medals in the League Cup finals in 1979 and 1980. 

Graeme played for Scotland at youth and Under-21 level. In 1982-83, he spent the second half of that season on loan at Morton. In May 1984 he joined Arbroath for a nominal fee.

LEE WILKIE

Lee began his career at Dundee and spent short periods on loan at Plymouth Argyle, Notts County and Falkirk. Capped as an Under-21, ‘B’ and full Scotland international, he had twice suffered serious long term injury before he joined United, initially as a trialist. 

He was then signed and had a short spell on loan at Ross County before making the breakthrough in January 2007. Lee then became a regular in the line up and was named as Club captain. In March 2008, he collected a League Cup runners-up medal. 

He was forced to retire in April 2010 as a result of his earlier injuries.

TOMMY MILLAR

Tommy joined Colchester United from the Scottish junior ranks. He signed for Dundee United in 1962 and soon became a regular in the line up. After several successful years at Tannadice, an injury the midst of season 1967-68 marked the beginning of the end. He returned to the side in October 1968 but he was released in May 1969 and joined Cowdenbeath.

KEVIN GALLACHER

Kevin joined United Duntocher Boys Club on an ‘S’ form in 1983, making his full debut 1985. He was the grandson of Celtic legend Patsy Gallacher and nephew of Dundee’s Tommy Gallacher.

He was a regular in the United line up for five years collecting a runners-up medal in the UEFA Cup final in 1987 and his goal against Barcelona at Tannadice in the quarter final is the stuff of legend. He also picked up two Scottish Cup runners-up medals. 

He moved to Coventry City in January 1990 for a reported £900,000. Already a youth and Under-21 international Kevin had an international career spanning 13 years and earned a total of 53 for Scotland.
