In 2009, the Club inducted the following players into the Hall of Fame:- Eamonn Bannon, Johnny Coyle, Hamish McAlpine, Peter McKay, Ralph Milne and Andy Rolland.
EAMONN BANNON

Formerly with Hearts, Eamonn joined United from Chelsea in 1979. He is a double League Cup winner and holds a Championship medal from 1982-83. He has runners-up medals from two other League Cup finals, four from Scottish Cup finals and one from the UEFA Cup final.
Already a Scotland Under-21 international, his raised profile at United brought full Scotland recognition with 11 caps. In June 1988, he left United to rejoin Hearts.
JOHNNY COYLE

Johnny was with St Joseph’s when he signed for United on a provisional form, making his debut in 1951. He made an early impression scoring all four goals in a 4-2 win against Stenhousemuir. He spent the latter part of 1952-53 at Brechin City on loan.
His United appearances were infrequent in his first four seasons, due largely to the in-form Peter McKay and Johnny’s two years of national service. After he was demobbed in June 1955, he became a Tannadice legend.
In season 1955-56, he was top scorer with a Club record 43 goals that still stands. He was top of the scoring charts at Tannadice again in the next season. His form continued unabated in 1957-58 and he put in a transfer request, leaving to join Clyde in December 1957 for a fee of £5,000.
HAMISH MCALPINE

Hamish had been with Butterburn Youth Club and signed provisionally from Dundee North End in and made his full debut in 1969. He became a regular in the reserves and spent some time on loan at Montrose. Hamish was then first choice for almost sixteen years, overcoming other serious injuries in 1974 and 1980. In the mid 1970s, he became United’s penalty taker and netted three times. After a spell at Dunfermline Athletic on loan he was released in May 1986 and joined Raith Rovers
During a long career, he played in two Scottish Cup finals but not on a winning side. He was also in four League Cup finals, collecting a winner’s medal in 1979 and 1980. He also collected a Scottish League championship medal for season 1982-83. Never recognised at full international level, he has Under-21 caps as an over age player.
In 1991 he was immortalised as a United legend in the song “Hamish”, by Michael Marra.
PETER MCKAY

Peter was signed from Newburgh in 1947. His goal scoring record at United is unlikely ever to be beaten. In seven years at Tannadice he was a regular in the line up and top scorer in six seasons. He was part of United’s “Famous Five” of Quinn, Grant, McKay, Dunsmore and Cruickshank in the early 1950s. In April 1954, Burnley made an offer of £3,000 and Peter decided to put his ability to the test south of the border.
RALPH MILNE

Ralph was an S signing from Celtic Boys Club in 1979. He was part of the Scotland Under-18 squad and went on to play at national Under-21 level.
By 1980, he was firmly established in the first team and he collected a runners-up medal in the 1981 Scottish Cup and League Cup finals. He was a League Championship winner with United in 1982-83 and in 1984-85, he again collected runners-up medals in both the League Cup and Scottish Cup.
Ralph left United in January 1987 to join Charlton Athletic after a star studded United career lasting eight years, leaving as a forever popular figure with the fans.
ANDY ROLLAND

Andy joined United from Cowdenbeath in 1967. He was a recognised defender but was frequently pitched into the forward line. Nicknamed ‘The Major’, in eleven seasons at Tannadice, he did not miss many games and played in the Scottish Cup final in 1974. He also gained international recognition as part of a Scottish League side. In April 1978 after a long career with United, he was released and went to America but soon returned to Scotland.
