PLAYERS DONATE £1,000 TO ARCHIE FOUNDATION

Dundee United's first team squad visited the ARCHIE Foundation on Monday to hand over a cheque for £1000 to the official charity of Tayside Children's Hospital in Dundee. 

While visiting Ninewells Hospital, the Club also backed the charity’s Beards for Bairns campaign encouraging men to grow a beard from Christmas Day to January 25 to raise vital funds for the local charity. The ARCHIE Foundation also supports some other children's hospitals in Scotland and has a long history of making significant differences for local children. 

Captain Fraser Fyvie said, "We were keen to continue our relationship with the ARCHIE Foundation and this year we are delighted to be able to hand over £1000 to them.

“The fundraising efforts of the ARCHIE Foundation make a massive difference to the experience many local children have when facing up to an operation in the Tayside Children's Hospital and, as a Club, we are delighted to play a small part."

Sarah Johnston, fundraising manager for The ARCHIE Foundation in Tayside said, “We're delighted that once again Dundee United have shown their support for The ARCHIE Foundation and we want to thank the players and the backroom staff for making the difference for local children in hospital.

“This £1,000 donation, for which we are incredibly grateful, will go a long way to help reach our £2 million fundraising target to build a new children’s theatre suite here at Ninewells Hospital.”

“It’s fantastic to have the Club on board supporting our Beards for Bairns campaign, too, and I hope it will encourage United fans to sign up via www.beardsforbairns.org to help sick children in the local area.”

The players doubled up on their visit to the Tayside children’s Hospital by also stopping in at various wards and handing out some Christmas time cheer to patients both young and old.
