Csaba Laszlo was in a happy mood after the victory over Partick at the weekend but was also keen to talk about the squad structure in his post-match interview with Dundee United's online channel ArabZONE.
The Manager discussed injuries, and potential deals before the transfer window shuts saying he anticipates changes within the squad.
Csaba said, "We are always looking to strengthen the squad, and I want players who are match ready. We have no interest in bringing in players who will be in the reserves or only there for the bench. Anyone who comes in must be able to help the team."
When asked about the likelihood of movement, Csaba explained that football clubs are much like computers in that they continually need to be updated.
"You must always be ready, so we are actively looking for players, and much like a computer, teams always need an update. Likewise, if there is transfer business with players going out, we need to be ready with replacements, so I have players in mind for that scenario also."
Csaba explained that having players leave the club is also a possibility but further revealed that he sees this as a good thing.
"If players leave this is good because this means we have good players who other clubs want and if it makes us happy we can allow this to happen. We need to be ready to bring in others also then because we also have injuries at the moment."
The Manager spoke in depth about those injury frustrations that now include Sam Stanton although he is buoyed by the news that a few long-term injuries are closing in on first-team involvement.
"I am so disappointed to lose Stanton for some weeks. He is missed alongside Fyvie, King and Clark. This is four players who are likely to be in our first eleven most weeks.
"With Nicky Clark, he missed the game due to an Achilles injury that is not new but must be managed, so I think he will be back within two to three days hopefully. It is pleasing that Fraser Fyvie returned to full training with the squad last week alongside Billy King so although we must take it slowly, these two will feature sooner rather than later."
Csaba explained that Sam Stanton was prepared to continue to fight through the pain, but the Club has decided it best for him to sort the issue out now.
"Sam has been experiencing pain for a few weeks with a hernia likely. He played through the pain against Queen of the South but was sore afterwards, and we decided that it will be better for him to get it solved now. This will mean we miss him for maybe five weeks, but it is important that we have the issue sorted and had him back fully fit and ready to go."
The manager hopes that by the time all four are back in the matchday squad he will have no more injuries to contend with and believes at that time that we will have a strong team.
"We need to be a strong unit at such times as this, but when these four players are all available again, we will have a very strong squad. Of course, there may be changes to the squad in the coming days, but I look forward to all four being available for selection."
