PREVIEW
Despite a two-week break from first-team action, United will come into this one in a positive mood after an excellent first-half performance down at Palmerston Park set the tone for a 2-1 victory. New signing Pavol Safranko will look to add to his superb debut goal in his home debut.
Partick have experienced mixed fortunes to the start of their campaign. The league campaign started with a 2-0 away defeat to Ayr United before a good home performance saw them defeat Falkirk 2-1. Last Saturday the Jags played well in a 3-1 home defeat to Celtic in the Betfred Cup. Recent signing Souleymane Coulibaly will be in the frame to start for the visitors, and it is expected that ex-United men Blair Spittal, Chris Erskine and Craig Slater will be in the matchday squad. United, of course, have ex-Partick men Adam Barton, Frederic Frans and Callum Booth in their ranks now and the first two will expect to be involved although this one may come too early for Booth in his return from injury.
The game may also be too soon for the return of Billy King and Fraser Fyvie while Lewis Toshney also remains injured.
