WATSON BECOMES A TANGERINE

20th July 2018

Dundee United announce the signing of central defender Paul Watson on a two-year deal.

The 27-year-old joins United after leaving Falkirk during the summer. The 6’ 1” Edinburgh-born stopper played over 60 times for the Bairns in his three years at the Falkirk Stadium.

A product of Hutchinson Vale, Paul was at Ipswich Town when ex-United man Gary Bollan secured his services for Livingston in 2009 and Paul helped the Lions secure both the third and second division titles, playing well over 100 games for them.

In 2013, Raith Rovers swooped for Paul’s services, and he played 58 times for the Fifers in his two years there before the move to Falkirk.

Manager Csaba László said, “Paul is a strong, physical defender and I am happy we secured his signature. Bringing him here strengthens the defensive area of our team. Paul was in demand elsewhere, so it is good he chose to come to United.”

Paul Watson said, “The move has come about quite quickly, but I am delighted to join this fantastic club. I know the demands here and I know the goals. I am excited to meet my new teammates and can’t wait to put on the tangerine shirt and do my best to help the Club gain success.”
