Dundee United announce the signing of 29-year-old Belgian defender Frédéric Frans on a two-year deal.
The 6’4” tall centre back comes with prior experience in the Scottish game having played for Partick Thistle between 2014 and 2016 and indeed scoring at Tannadice for the Firhill side in a 3-3 draw on 10 May 2016.
Having represented his country at various youth levels, Frédéric has played most of his football at Belgian outfit Lierse SK whom he first joined at the age of five. He progressed through the ranks into the first team, captaining his side more than 75 times, before moving abroad at the age of 25. In 2016, ‘Freddy’ opted to return to his hometown club making a further 65 appearances in two seasons.
Dundee United Manager Csaba László said: “I was very keen to bring Freddy to the Club this summer and I am delighted to have secured his services. He brings us experience, strength and height. He can play with both feet, is good in the air and a great person to have in the dressing room.”
