Disappointment at Tannadice as Inverness condemn United to their second 2-0 in a row.
By Tommy McKay
The game started with both teams trying to get a foot hold in the game. The first chance fell to Inverness, however Lewis easily gathered. At the other end ICT had Ridgers to thank for not falling behind. Keatings's free kick from 20 yards was well turned round for a corner. On 28 minutes ICT opened the scoring. A corner fell to Flood on the edge of his own box however his clearance fell straight to the feet of Iain Vigurs. His shot from the corner of the box took a deflection whilst going through a ruck of players and flew past the unsighted Lewis.
Just a minute later United almost found themselves level but Ridgers made a smart save to deny McDonald after he was found by Fyvie’s smart pass.
On 36 minutes United fell further behind when Bell tapped home the second. Mulraney collected an excellent pass from Vigurs. He then got to the got to the by line and his cross across the six yard box was met by Bell who made it 2-0.
Second Half
The second half started in much the same vein as the first however neither team could add to the scoreline. United were disappointed to lose Fyvie to injury just six minutes into the second half. McKinnon brought on King, Murdoch and Fraser however neither of them could make a difference. King did come close with a header at the back post after being found by Fraser, however Ridgers gathered. Keatings had another free kick well saved but in the end United could not find a way past the keeper or the Inverness defence.
All in all it was another disappointing result for United who remain fourth however have now fallen five points off top spot.
