Despite dominating and creating quite a few chances, United left East End Park with only a solitary point.

First Half:
United didn’t start well with the first chance of the game going to Dunfermline in the ninth minute when Durnan lost possession in the middle of the park. It was Nicky Clark who was advancing into the United half and squared the ball across the box to Michael Moffat whose shot was brilliantly blocked and cleared from Edjenguele two yards out.
The game didn’t really spark into life until the twentieth minute when a beautifully curled a shot from twenty yards out by Andreu gave United the lead. After that goal, United continue to press but couldn’t quite manage to extend their lead.
Dunfermline got their equaliser on the twenty-ninth minute against the run of play after the referee awarded them a free kick. From the resulting free kick United didn’t do enough to stop the cross from Higginbotham which was met well by John Herron who in turn got to it before Cammy Bell and headed past the outcoming United keeper. United then had the better chances towards the end of the first half with Thomas Mikkelsen's shot saved by Sean Murdoch.
Half time: Dunfermline 1 Dundee United 1
Second Half:
Dunfermline started the second half the brighter after two attacks down the United right hand resulted in two free kicks which were well defended by United. Tony Andreu once again proved his quality playing Spittal in down the left hand side but the cross was well cleared.
Both teams were pushing on looking to take the lead but none of them created any clear-cut chances. United then had a big shout for a penalty waved away by the referee when Durnan seemed to have his shirt pulled in the box.
Tony Andreu then had a glorious chance to put United ahead on the seventy-fourth minute after lovely inter play by from Murray and Spittal but was denied by a good save from Murdoch and the re-bound was blazed off by Andreu.
Once again Murdoch was at the rescue for the home side after a brilliant save from a Spittal free kick which was destined for the top corner. Another chance then went begging for United as Murray cut in from the left hand side but his shot went high and wide.
Dunfermline got in behind the United defence down the left hand side and the shot from Reilly produced a good save from Luis Zwick which was really all the young German keeper had to do since coming on at half time for Bell.
On the positive side, the Tangerines managed to vastly improve on their recent performances and looked more like the United we have seen earlier this season. However, they will rue the many chances they had to win the game.
