Looking ahead to this weekend’s meeting with Falkirk at Tannadice, there has been a lot of talk about the momentum of a five-game unbeaten run. The team has developed a habit of grinding out results through patience and, after last weekend’s 2-1 win over Dumbarton, has climbed up to 2
nd place in the table.

The visit from Falkirk on Saturday afternoon represents a different challenge to last week with the opposition rightly sharing United’s ultimate aim of promotion. The Bairns are also the last team to have inflicted a league defeat on United, however the likelihood of a more open game has the potential to play into United’s hands.
While Stewart Murdoch and Lewis Toshney still remain sidelined despite starting light training this week, Blair Spittal could be back in contention. Willo Flood, Cammy Bell and Tony Andreu will be another week sharper after a mix of injuries and all could be key to a positive result given their impact so far this season. There are also players such as Simon Murray and Cammy Smith who haven’t started the last couple of games but at Tannadice especially have proved they can score goals. All this adds up to a selection headache of a welcome nature for the manager.
The last league meeting between the sides at Tannadice came on the 27
th February 2010 when the hosts cruised to a 3-0 victory courtesy of a first half David Goodwillie penalty plus a Morgaro Gomis double.
The overall head to head between the sides makes for favourable reading especially our home record which is as follows: Played – 55, Won – 33, Drawn – 8, Lost – 14. Let’s hope to see this statistic improved further and the recent momentum continued as we head into a key period of the campaign. The support has been absolutely fantastic home and away this season and again will be crucial come Saturday 3pm. Let’s pack our ends of the ground and encourage the team to victory.
Come on United!!!
