UNITED IN DOUBLE SWOOP

Dundee United have secured, subject to clearance, the signing of defenders Frank van der Struijk and William Edjenguélé on one-year contracts. 31-year-old van der Struijk, who played over 300 times in the Eredivisie with Willem II and SBV Vitesse and included five Europa League appearances in his career, will bring experience to the right side of the defence. 29-year-old left-footed central defender Edjenguélé has experience in the Greek SuperLeague, Swiss Super League and English Football League with Neuchâtel Xamax FCS, Coventry City, Paneitolikos GFS Agrinio and Veria FC among his previous clubs. Manager Ray McKinnon said, “We had to be patient with both these signings. We worked on these deals for a good few weeks and I am delighted to get them on board. They will add experience and quality to our squad in an area I have been looking to strengthen. Both will play a part in Saturday’s game versus Peterhead.” Frank said, “I am looking forward to playing for Dundee United. After Nick van der Velden spoke to me about the Club and I checked out the training complex and the Dundee area, I was happy to sign for United. It is a little different over here in the style but I believe I will do well here. ” William said, “I enjoy football in the UK and was keen to move back. I was very impressed with everything about the Club when I visited recently. It is a beautiful day for me and now I just want to start working and help the team achieve some success. The game is pay-at-the-gate with prices set at £10 for adults and £5 for concessions. The home support will be housed in the George Fox and Eddie Thompson Lower tiers, and Jerry Kerr Stand sections A and B. Peterhead supporters will be accommodated in Section D of the Jerry Kerr Stand.
