Dundee United have signed Dutch attacker Nick van der Velden on a one-year deal.
The 34-year-old lists Willem II, AZ Alkmaar, N.E.C. and Groningen among his previous clubs and becomes Ray McKinnon’s seventh summer signing. He is expected to play tonight versus Cowdenbeath.
Nick said, “I cannot wait to show my skills to the United fans. The Manager convinced me when I spoke to him that this was the right Club for me. He believes in me and knows what I can bring to United.
“I have spent thirteen years in Dutch football and believe that now is the right time to try something else. I was sold on Tannadice after speaking to friends back in Holland and also seeing what this place has to offer. I am ready to play as soon as possible.”
Manager Ray McKinnon said, “I am delighted to get Nick in. He has real quality and will be a great addition to the squad. He can play either as main striker or as one of the three behind. He has showed in both training and a bounce game last week how good a player he is. He will be excellent for us.”
