Dundee United have secured the signing, subject to clearance, of 26-year-old Tope Obadeyi initially until the summer of 2017.
The winger, capped by England at Under 19 and Under 20 level joins after leaving Kilmarnock after two years at the Ayrshire club. His previous clubs include Bolton Wanderers, Rio Ave and Bury as well as loan spells at Swindon Town, Rochdale, Shrewsbury Town, Chesterfield and Plymouth Argyle. The powerful winger becomes Ray McKinnon’s fourth major signing of his rebuilding job at Tannadice ahead of the 2016/17 season. Tope said, “I cannot wait to get started. United are a massive Club and they have great fan base. It was an easy decision to come here. The aim is to be pushing for promotion. “This move is about playing football. I want a season of games behind me and at a Club this size, it's a great opportunity. I came up to see St Andrews and the manager told me of his plans and after that I was convinced I wanted to join United.” Manager Ray McKinnon said, “I am delighted to get Tope. He's a strong, powerful and quick player. He scored ten goals in the Premiership last year and he will bring lots to our team. We will need big physical players and he fits the bill. “
