Rising stars Matty Smith and Cammy Ballantyne have secured new deals at Dundee United. Both youngsters' current deals were due to expire this summer and Manager Ray McKinnon moved quickly to extend the contracts of the players who both saw first team action near the end of the 2015/16 campaign.
19-year-old Matty Smith signs an extension which will see him wear the tangerine jersey until May 2019. Matty started two games, against Partick Thistle and Kilmarnock, at the end of the Ladbrokes Premiership and is viewed as an exciting forward with real potential within the Club.
Cammy Ballantyne’s extension sees the Cub secure the 19-year-old until May 2017 and the defensive midfielder will look to build upon his two substitute appearances at the end of the 2015/16 campaign and his international recognition at various age levels up to Under 17.
Manager Ray McKinnon said, “I am delighted that these young lads have committed their futures to Dundee United. I look forward to seeing them working hard now to force their way into the first team match day squad on a more regular basis."
