Donaldson Is A Terror

13th July 2015

Dundee United today announced, subject to clearance, the signing of 20 year old Coll Donaldson on a three-year-deal. The 6ft 3 defender joins United after his contract at Queens Park Rangers was mutually terminated. Coll arrived over in the Netherlands where the first team are currently on pre season camp and will make his first appearance for the Terrors over the course of the three games being played abroad. A central defender, Coll can also play defensive midfield although it is his ability as a central defender which has excited Manager Jackie McNamara. Jackie said, “I am really delighted with this capture, he is an excellent defender and he is an excellent addition to the squad. He is skilful, physical and quick and will add to the competition amongst our defenders. “We are extremely fortunate that he was available and it was important that we got him signed up before others were aware of him. United fans will enjoy watching him play.” Donaldson started his early career at Livingston and left to join ‘Rangers’ in January 2014 for a reputed fee of £150,000. He started one game in his time at Loftus Road and, after the agreement was reached to end his time there, United moved quickly ahead of interest from other clubs. Coll said, “I am delighted to become a Dundee United player. Things have moved pretty quickly but it is great to sign the contract and I am now looking forward to playing in the tangerine jersey. “The manager’s desire to sign me and his vision for taking the Club forward convinced me this was the right place to enhance my development and improve as a player." Now Coll just can't wait to settle in at Tannadice and show the fans his game. Coll stated, “I enjoyed my time at QPR and it has improved me as a footballer and person but this is a great move for me and being across here with the squad for pre season training camp will help me settle in quickly.”
