Dundee United supporters are on target to break the Club’s record number of season ticket sales, with total sales to date fast approaching 5500. The increase threatens capacity in certain areas and from now on entry to the George Fox Lower Stand will be by ticket only.
The Club’s highest number of season ticket sales was recorded in 2005 after reaching the Scottish Cup final ensured European qualification for the first time in eight years. Sales to date are some 15% ahead of last year, with only a few more required to break the 10 year old record!
Such has been the uplift in sales that capacity is under pressure in certain stands and for reasons of safety and convenience to supporters, it has been decided that entry to the George Fox Lower Stand will from now on be by ticket only. Cash turnstiles will no longer be available in the George Fox Lower Stand. Seat specific tickets for each match can be purchased online or from the ticket office in the Club Shop in Tannadice Street in advance and on the day of a match.
This new arrangement will ensure that all supporters who enter the George Fox Lower have a specific seat and should avoid unnecessary and frustrating queuing and congestion. However the best way to ensure a seat in this area is to snap up one of the few remaining season ticket seats for this stand - and save money on the walk up price at the same time. Full details can be found at
www.dufc.co or can be obtained from the ticket office, with finance options still available.
Should it be considered necessary, additional cash turnstiles will be open for the Jerry Kerr Stand on an individual match basis. This stand will be open for Saturday’s match against Ross County to gauge the demand. Full details can be found under
Box Office on the website for each individual game.
Director Derek Robertson said, “We’re delighted with the response from supporters for this season’s Premiership campaign and in particular to the countdown target displayed on the website. Recent activity has helped to swell numbers to within just a few short of our target and we’re confident that the record will now be broken. The team has played in front of the largest crowds in the top league in each of its three games to date and we expect another sizeable home support this weekend. We believe the new ticketing and matchday procedures will help improve the supporter experience and would encourage as many as possible to purchase tickets in advance of the match to avoid queuing at the turnstiles.”
