Argentinian striker Gustavo Fuentes has been allowed to leave United after he expressed his desire to return to Latin America.
Fuentes, a powerful, hard working striker played over 100 games in his native Argentina with Argentinos Juniors and River Plate before moving to Hill of Montivideo (Uraguay). He returned to Argentina in 1996 and began a series of moves between Honduras and his homeland which ended with his transfer to Tannadice.
On hearing of his move to Scotland, Fuentes said: "I am happy to be on of the few foreigners in Honduran soccer that has secured a move to a European league." He signed on 22 September 2000 with a group of Central and South American players and on 24 October it was announced that Gustavo would be the only one to remain with United, having given impressive performances in consecutive league games against Rangers, Hearts and Celtic.
Yesterday the Club confirmed that Gustavo will be returning to his former club Motagua in Honduras.
