A relieved Jim Paterson has received confirmation that the injury sustained in Tuesday's CIS Cup clash with Airdrie is not as serious as was first feared. The Scotland Under-21 star was stretchered off after a crunching tackle which hit the exact spot where he sustained a double leg fracture last November. But once Paterson was taken into the dressing room, it was discovered that he had no more than severe bruising - and he even has a chance of making Saturday's trip to Kilmarnock.
According to boss Alex Smith, the incident could prove to be a blessing in disguise. Smith explained, "Jim got a real scare but his leg stood up to the challenge. If he had any doubts about his old injury still being a problem, that should reassure him that his leg is strong again."
