Alex Smith is considering making a positional change for the derby at Dens. He was generally pleased with the 10-man performance against St Mirren on Saturday, in terms of the commitment shown, so unforced changes will be minimal.
Smith said, "I was delighted with the way the players fought for the cause after Stephen Wright's sending-off. Most of these players will be given their chance again in the derby, but I am giving thought to making a change to at least one player's position."
Although the chance of 'getting one over' the street rivals is a big incentive for Tangerine fans, Smith sees that issue as secondary to the need for points in general. "First we must start winning games, no matter who the opposition is," he added. "The fans love to win against Dundee and that's great, but it's only the second priority. "Third, it gives us the chance to get off the bottom of the league, depending on the result at Tynecastle." Despite wet and windy weather around Tayside, there are no plans for a pitch inspection, although conditions are likely to be heavy.
